Tsugumomo Wiki

We're not dead yet! It's not over yet! Get it?! Even if you lose your body! As long as the soul still holds its form!! You're still alive!!!
—Kamuado, Chapter 143

Kamuado (かむあど, Kamuado) is a soul residing in Yomi and leader of the bandits known as the Yomi True Phoenices.

Kamuado is a large muscular woman with light skin and many scars across her arms and legs. She has curly, long, dark hair with light streaks. On each of her cheeks is a dark warpaint-like streak. At the center of her forehead there appears to be the remnants of a bullet wound.

In combat, she wears heavy armor which leaves only her head exposed.

Kamaudo witnessed Chigaeshi no Ookami battling a lone girl who was able to cut his hand off. Impressed, Kamuado rescued the girl before Chigaeshi can crush her and the two escaped. Kamuado asked the girl for her name but she did not respond. She warned her that those with weak sense of self within Yomi are the first vanish and to return to the One Who is All. Still unresponsive, Kamuado decided to name her Taunade and then asked her if she has any strong desires. Taunade told her she wished to have an exciting fight.[1]

Divine Resurrection Arc

As the Yomi guards give a speech to the newly deceased arrivals, Kamuado and her group interrupt them. Kamuado tells them rather than accept death, to cling to their life and be reborn. She incapacitates the guard and has her people begin kidnapping the spirits. Kamuado spots Kazuya Kagami rescuing the victims and engages in battle with him. As more Yomi soldiers arrive, Ayosari binds Mimane and orders a retreat, forcing Kazuya to give them chase. Kazuya destroys Mimane's bindings allowing her to release Kyouka, Shinobu and Sosogu and fend off their attackers. Before Kazuya can retrieve them, Kamaudo snatches Mimane away. Kazuya attempts to reason with her but Kamuado is more interested in fighting. Kamuado arranges a bet for them to defeat Taunade in exchange for Mimane's release if they win, otherwise becoming her servants if they lose.[2]

Kamuado holds Mimane captive while she and her bandits watch Taunade's duel. She is impressed when Kazuya correctly ascertains the nature of Taunade's Fog Dance ability and counters it with a soundwave. As Taunade effortlessly negates Shirane's attacks, Kamuado tells Taunade to stop holding back since it is disrespectful. Taunade incapacitates Shirane with a single strike, apologizing and blaming Kamuado for interrupting them. Kamuado insists the outcome would have been the same regardless. Kazuya readies himself to face Taunade and has Kamuado reaffirm their deal to let them go before fighting.[3] The two battle and Kamuado praises Taunade after she briefly incapacitates Kazuya before being surprised by his sudden reawakening. As the battle continues, Kamauado is impressed by Kazuya skills and Kazuya succeeds in knocking down Taunade.[1] Taunade immediately recovers and incapacitates Kazuya and his allies, winning the battle.[4]

Kazuya and his allies are brought the base of the Yomi True Phoenices, the Jawfire Fortress. After Kazuya recovers and regroups with his allies, Kamuado and Ayosari come to greet and bring them a change of clothes. Showing them around the base, Kamuado explains her motivations, encouraging people to stay as lively as possible to stave of soul regression. The group witness a soul disappear and Kamaudo explains the concept to them and fondles Ayosari during a demonstration. Kamuado proclaims her goal of returning herself and her allies to the living world. Shirane inquires how but Kamuado keeps it secret, though explains to Kiriha that even with no body to return to, they could simply possess animals or objects. As Kamuado finishes explaining herself, she turns her attention towards Kazuya's group, giving them the chance to explain themselves and why they are so lively.[4]

After Kazuya and his group finish explaining their situation, she allows them to carry on with their goal on the condition they do her one favor first. Kamuado asks for Kazuya's group to collect a tooth of Izanagi's comb, explaining the tale of Izanagi and Izanami in the process. She explains the area where the tooth is located is deep within Yomi, making the risk of soul regression strong, but as Kazuya and his allies are alive, they face less threat while also conveniently make progress towards their destination. Kiriha asks what Kamaudo plans to do with the tooth but she refuses to tell. Kazuya agrees to Kamaudo's deal. Before they leave, Kamaudo warns them of the dangers within the depths of Yomi and ask one of their group remain behind as a hostage to ensure their end of the bargin is kept. Shinobu offers to stay behind, reasoning the others have more important roles to fill. Kazuya and his group leave, leaving Shinobu with Kamuado and her group.[4]

Kamuado applauds Shinobu and her party to make such a decision with hesitation. Shinobu inqures more about the dangers Kamuado warned them of. At the baths, Kamuado explains the Hollowspine Demons to Shinobu. When asked why they are at the baths, Kamuado states it is to deepen their friendship. Kamuado, Ayosari and Shinobu bathe as Kamuado continues explaining the Hollowspine Demons' abilities and behavior.[5] Continuing her explanation elsewhere, Kamuado tells Shinobu that the best way to break the illusion is with strong stimulation, she says as she simultaneosuly stimulates Shinobu's erogenous areas. Shinobu asks why she is being subjected to this skinship in front of an audience, to which Kamuado explains is to put life back into their souls to stave off soul regression. Kamuado asks Ayosari where Taunade is but she does not know.[6]

Expert Combatant: Kamaudo shows strength and skills powerful enough to keep up with Kazuya Kagami using Kiriha's muscle enhancing weave in hand-to-hand combat.[2]
