Kukuri-Hime-no-Mikoto (菊理媛命(くくりひめのみこと), Kukuri-hime no mikoto) is the resident god of the Ookane Shirahagi Shrine. She is referred to as the Kukuri of Shirahagi (白羽儀の菊理(しらはぎ くくり), Shirahagi no Kukuri) as one of many Kukuris, claiming to be the most revered of all of them.[1]

Appearance

Personality

Like the Kukuri of Kamioka, this version of Kukuri has a fondness for mizuyokan.[1]

Plot

Kazuya's Partners Arc

Kazuya Kagami and Kiriha bring an offering of mizuyokan to a miniature shrine near Tsuzura Temple. They eat some themselves and leave one to pay respects to the Kukuri of Kamioka. After they leave, Kukuri of Shirahagi sends her projection through the shrine to take the offering.[2]

Divine Resurrection Arc

After about one year of training at Tsuzura Temple, Kiriha becomes suspicious of her offerings disappearing. She and Kazuya set up a trap and catch the Kukuri's clone body taking the mizuyokan. Kukuri demands to be released but Kiriha refuses and begins spanking her. She attempts to attack them but fails and retreats. After Kazuya and Kiriha arrive at the Ookane Shirahagi Shrine, Shirane Shirahabane escorts them and Kokuyou to meet with Kukuri in person.[1] After introducing herself, Kukuri attacks Kazuya and Kiriha, stripping them of their clothes and binding them. Only after she begins spanking them in retaliation for their earlier acts does Kazuya realize she was the offering thief at the shrine. After their punishment, Kukuri brings them to where the Kukuri of Kamioka's body is being held. She explains while she healed the body, the soul has already entered Yomi. In order for them to resurrect Kamioka's Kukuri, she tells them they must journey to Yomi and retrieve the soul, a task she cannot do herself with alerting Yomi's deity. Kazuya and Kiriha agree to the plan but Shirane does not, stating it to be too much of a risk for Kukuri of Shirahagi. Shirane challenges the two to a duel to test they are capable of carrying out Kukuri's plan.[3]

Kukuri watches Kazuya and Shirane's duel. She notes that Kazuya is holding back out of consideration for both his partner and opponent, a sentiment she believes will dangerous for him in the future. Before Shirane can unleash a powerful attack, Kukuri interrupts the battle, encasing both combatants in water and drawing the battle to a close. Shirane is confident their battle proved her argument about Kazuya's inability to carry Kukuri's plan, but Kukuri decides the opposite and tells Kazuya he will be departing for Yomi immediately. Kukuri tells Shirane, she is to serve as their guide. Shirane protests, worrying about Kukuri's safety in her absence but Kukuri dismisses her concerns. Kukuri suggests to her guests they relax in the baths while she makes preparations for their journey to Yomi. She tells Shirane to join them as well in order to deepen her bonds with her future travelling companions.[4]

Abilities

  • Minazuchi (水槌(みなづち), Minadzuchi): Like Kukuri of Kamioka, this version of Kukuri can call upon a torrent of water to appear from above but the power of this technique is drastically lessened when cast through her clone body.[1]
