Naoki helps capture Kazuya Kagami and Ouhi Oriobana when they arrive at Tsuzura Temple. Upon taking them to their prison cells, Naoki inspects Kazuya's belongings, finding the remains of Kiriha and suggests he throw the remains of the tsukumogami away. Kazuya tells Naoki not to touch Kiriha, scaring Naoki as the other finish inspecting Oriobana. As he and the other exorcists leave Naoki expresses annoyances at Kazuya. When Kazuya and Oriobana escape, Naoki has Shishinari capture Oriobana while Kazuya is busy tying up incapacitated guards. Naoki angrily challenges Kazuya to unarmed combat for making a fool of him earlier, stating he will let them go if Kazuya wins. Naoki is easily defeated and goes back on his promise, telling Shishinari to attack who is also easily defeated by Kazuya unarmed. Naoki and Shishinari are left bound as reinforcements from their faction arrive.
